DECEMBER:

The Christmas Old/New Year festive season once again.
Things are different this year, still some restricions are with us, which means pub crawling may not be as we once knew it and there will be lack of space when everyone wants to get out there and party! We would be looking at booking somewhere rather than just hopefully meeting up. Also, with the high demand for taxis (and less of them), it would mostlikely be a daytime meet for a more guaranteed journey home.

NOVEMBER

Movember
As ever, we have been supporting Movember to highlight mens' health.

THE HUNT FOR CASK OCTOBER
Having found out information about cask whereabouts on a regular basis, it is time to print out certificates and arrange for delivery. More difficult than you would believe! Businesses in NI seem not to be interested in awards or free publicity. Maybe they do not know how to reply?

OCTOBER

CASK ALE WEEK 2021
As ever, we were supporting Cask Ale Week the best we can with an "Ale by Rail" trip to the Central Bar, Carrickfergus.

CASK OCTOBER
Now that restrictions have really eased BFTWNI has been supporting those premises serving quality real ale. We will not have a single POTY award this year as it would not be fair to judge premises on just a few weeks of getting back into their stride. Instead we will present a special award as a Thank You for those who are helping cask ale to stay in the province.

SEPTEMBER

Supporting CASK ALE WEEK 2021
A "Thank You" day at The Errigle Inn on the 25th September with 50p off an ale vouchers for members.

STAND UP FOR CASK!
This had been extended into the first couple of weeks of September and BFTWNI is totally supporting.
jpg

Cask is now endangered in N. Ireland and we are very quickly going back several decades where outlets which sold a lot of cask have not yet brought it back in.

ALWAYS ASK FOR CASK IN EVERY PREMISE YOU VISIT - SUPPORT IT OR LOSE IT!

AUGUST

STAND UP FOR CASK
Extended into September
Run by our friends at Cask Ale Week, we supported this event thoroughly through August and will continue into September. Due to the lack of cask in the province we did several stints at the Crown and the Bridge House.

BEER FROM THE WOOD
A while back we lent Charles (@ArdsBrewing) one of our wood firkins and were really pleased when he let us know that the barrel was in The WIldfowler, Greyabbey. We had a taste and it was excellent, very drinkable ideed!

JULY

LOCKDOWN
Things are moving slowly in the hospitality sector - such a shame that cask ale is still an endangered species.

STAND UP FOR CASK
19th July - 1st August
Run by our friends at Cask Ale Week, we supported this event thoroughly!
On the first Friday we attended The Crown Bar, Belfast, for lunch and some cask ales. The next Friday was lunch and beers at The Bridge House, Belfast.
Cask needs to be supported over here and it is sad that ale drinkers are not doing their bit!

JUNE

LOCKDOWN
Well, things have really progessed in the hospitality sector - such a shame that cask ale is now an endangered species.

BEER DAY BRITAIN
Tuesday, 15th June.
We are not sure if we can actually get out to celebrate this event - and we normally do so every year. Will any variants close things again? Will there be too many restrictions? BDB21 said they are happy for us to publicise on social media and do what we can.
See how it goes.

The good news.
Lockdown is finally eased and we hope that this continues and does not lead to another term of Lockdown.
Please be safe out there!

TREVOR DICKSON MEMORIAL
Saturday, 2nd May
Sadly we could not get out to support mental health this year, but we did raise a glass or two of cider in the house to the memory of our late member, Trevor.
